Ed leads Steer’s Sports & Major Events practice, advising clients around the world on strategy, planning, and design for major events and venues.

He works with venue owners, event organisers, host cities, and transport operators to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality experiences, whether for new multi-use venues or adapting existing infrastructure. His work spans from Vancouver to Varanasi, Enschede to England, and Japan to just outside the A406.

Ed has led transport planning for major global events, including the UEFA Champions League Final 2024, UEFA Nations League Finals 2023, and UEFA EURO 2020 in London. He supports projects from early planning through to delivery, negotiating with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and an exceptional spectator experience. He has also advised on Rugby World Cups and developed strike mitigation strategies for UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

In venue design, Ed has worked across six Premier League stadiums and with international architects and engineers to enable higher-capacity events. He is currently advising on two new FIFA World Cup 2030 stadiums and a multipurpose venue in Central America.

Ed also supports host city strategy and governance. He is currently advising the Greater London Authority on making it easier for London’s major venues to host larger events and contributed to the winning UK & Ireland UEFA EURO 2028 bid.
